Description
The Seminar in Dialectical Systemic Applied Epistemology is addressed to professionals whose initial training at AKMA has prepared them to apply the Dialectical Systemic approach within the scientific and professional activities they carry out.
The seminar promotes the integration of theory and practice through experiential methods, as well as through the sharing of participants’ experiences, emotions, and thoughts within the processes developed for addressing the requests that are expressed or emerge during the group work.
Group Process is utilized in the exploration of problems and the emergence of solutions related to the participants’ “trainees” or “clients,” to activities developed within their work context, and primarily to the consultant/participant themselves.
Through theoretical presentations, experiential processes, and work in both small and large groups, trainees are supported in connecting recent systemic–epistemological understandings (living systems and complexity, second-order cybernetics, chaos theory, social systems, autopoiesis–co-evolution, etc.) with cases and situations drawn from their areas of professional responsibility as well as from personal experiences.
As the seminar evolves, participants themselves undertake the responsibility of presenting such connections, drawing on the relevant literature and with guidance from the trainers.
Drawing on their own experience, trainees participate together with the Trainers in a journey of discovering new dimensions, enabling them to address challenges with personal responsibility while making use of the contributions of the group members and the group’s autopoietic capacity and emerging properties.
Aim
The aim of the Epistemology seminar is to understand the developments of the Systemic Approach — particularly those concerning Living Systems and the management of complexity — and their applications in the fields of group and family dynamics, as well as in the understanding and training of large organizations / macrosystems.
At the same time, the seminar aims:
- to meet the needs of trainees/consultants in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitudes within professional practice, while also contributing — through the group process that develops — to the personal and professional growth of the participants.
- The deepening of Dialectical Systemic Epistemology and its applications through the Professional Role.
Emphasis is placed on counselling and psychotherapy with the individual within their relational and systemic contexts,
- the reduction of unnecessary expenditure of energy and resources as much as possible,
- the activation of creativity,
- and the enhancement of satisfaction throughout the process of achieving the members’ goals.
The seminar also clearly carries a dimension of sensitization to Interprofessional Consultation and Supervision.
Skills
The resulting skills concern: a systemic view of the world; understanding clinical cases, families, groups, and organizations; and the systemic narration of personal processes and family dynamics.
