Description

It concerns the practice of supervision and interprofessional consultation according to the Dialectical–Systemic Epistemological Approach, on which all therapeutic and educational activities of AIA are based, and is aligned with the standards of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA). (European Family Therapy Association – EFTA).

The main principles of the program are the following:

  • Trainees are required to have completed their personal therapy and to possess extensive experience as therapists.
  • The training covers both group and individual supervision.
  • The program is experiential in nature. Trainees actively participate in specially designed exercises and through the sharing of emotions and personal experiences. They also develop an ongoing group process among themselves.
  • Trainees participate in regular group supervision meetings.

The training program for supervisors and interprofessional consultants had a total duration of 300 hours and was conducted during the period 2019–2022. The trainees completed 180 hours of individual and group supervision as supervisors, under guidance, during the period 2023–2024.

The main trainer was Dionysis Sakkas, while Giannis Sigalas served as co-trainer. Other experienced members of AKMA also participated in the educational process. Eight experienced systemic therapists took part in the program as trainees.

ΑThe program focused on the practice of supervision and interprofessional consultation according to the Dialectical–Systemic Epistemological Approach, on which all therapeutic and educational activities of AKMA are based. It was adapted to the standards of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA).

The main principles of the program were the following:

  • Trainees were required to have completed their personal therapy and to possess many years of experience as therapists.
  • The training covered both group and individual supervision.
  • The program was experiential in nature. Trainees actively participated through specially designed exercises and by sharing emotions and personal experiences. They also developed an ongoing group process among themselves.
  • Video-recorded and audio-recorded material from supervision sessions conducted by the trainees was utilized.
  • Online platforms and internet-based tools were also used during the training process.
  • Trainees participated in regular group supervision meetings.
  • International literature on theoretical, ethical, and legal issues was discussed, and relevant bibliography was provided.
  • Each trainee prepared a theoretical paper on a topic related to the supervisory process. These papers were presented at the 13th Panhellenic Conference of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as at the Scientific Anniversary Event celebrating the 60th anniversary of AIA.

The supervisors who graduated from the program were: Antonis Antoniou, Maria Giourgi, Giannis Zervanos, Athanasia Katti, Haris Pischos, Varvara Salavou, and Vangelis Fousteris. The presence of our colleague and friend Vasilis Dourou enriched the group with his sensitivity, knowledge, and experience before his painful loss.
