Description

EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP with applications in counselling and psychotherapy for children and their families.

Recommended For

The workshop is addressed to psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health counsellors, as well as other professionals involved in:

• The promotion of mental health in children and adolescents.
• The treatment of psycho-emotional and psychosocial difficulties in children and adolescents.
• The promotion of healthy family functioning in families with children and adolescents.
Parent counseling.

Aim

The aim of the workshop is to strengthen understanding and develop skills in the above areas within the framework of AIA’s Multilevel and Multifocal Systemic Approach.

This workshop offers a comprehensive framework for sensitization to therapeutic work with children and adolescents, based on Systemic Theory, broadening participants’ understanding of how children and families function as systems and are influenced by both external and internal interactions. All of the above are approached using contemporary research findings in neuroscience and developmental psychology.

Methodology

  • Λήψη και αξιολόγηση πληροφοριών από την συνάντηση με την οικογένεια, τους γονείς και το παιδί, όσον αφορά την λειτουργικότητα και στοιχεία δυσλειτουργίας.
  • Systemic understanding of development: The developmental stages of the child and the family will be explored, with emphasis on the ways in which relationships and interactions influence the psychological and emotional condition of children.
  • Intervention planning and goal setting: Development of targeted and structured intervention plans that integrate an understanding of developmental stages and the specific needs of the child and family.
  • Individual psychotherapeutic intervention practices focused on the needs of the child or adolescent within the family context.
  • Use of therapeutic tools such as drawing, doll-houses, and board games to facilitate the expression and exploration of clients’ emotions and thoughts.
  • Parent counselling: A holistic approach to working with parents, helping them understand their own positions within the family system, as well as the contribution of family relationships to the development and management of symptoms in its members. Parents are supported in restructuring and strengthening their relationship with the child through active listening, empathy, and constructive feedback.
  • Group parent counseling. Community education on issues related to the development of parenting.
  • Sensitisation to the exploration of family functioning and the recognition of intergenerational dynamics that influence the functioning of family members.
  • Sensitization to group psychotherapy for children and adolescents presenting developmental, psycho-emotional, or psychosocial difficulties.
  • Study of specific examples of therapeutic work with children, adolescents, and their families within the framework of the Multilevel and Multifocal Systemic Approach.
  • Use and examination of examples drawn from the therapeutic work of seminar participants. Trainees will have the opportunity to share their therapeutic experiences and receive specific feedback and guidance from members of the educational team and the trainers.
