Individual Therapy

A Holistic Approach

AIA’s individual systemic therapy is a valuable tool for those who wish to explore and improve their lives through a holistic approach. By understanding systemic dynamics and strengthening their personal agency, individuals gain the means to live a more meaningful and balanced life.

Counseling Psychotherapy at AIA

Counseling psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and couples at AKMA is based on the Systemic–Dialectical approach, as it has been developed within the organization. It focuses on understanding the person within the context of their relationships. Rooted in the principles of living systems, this approach views the person as a bio-psycho-social-economic being, interdependent, interactive, and in constant exchange with the parts of each system to which they belong (e.g., family, community, classroom, group).

Through this approach, the individual is empowered to:

  • Shape their personal identity by recognizing how they perceive themselves, who they are, and who they want to become.
  • Develop awareness of their emotional state and internal processes (both cognitive and emotional).
  • Gain control over their actions and decisions through self-awareness and conscious choice.
  • Cultivate their inner dialogue, learning to make use of all parts of themselves.
  • Discover their resources and reserves, drawing strength from their internal capacities.
  • Broaden their perspective on difficulties by considering the context in which they arise.
  • Explore behavioral patterns, identifying recurring dynamics passed down through generations.
  • Focus not on the “why” (the cause) but on the “how,” examining life’s challenges and the consequences of their actions within relationships.
  • Learn to empathize, to collaborate, and to engage in dialogue based on trust rather than control.

This holistic approach encourages individuals to develop deeper self-awareness, build meaningful relationships, and strengthen their functioning within the systems to which they belong.
